Just a quick post here, since I see people asking this a lot.

Whats up with the color vectors you get when you click an egg? What do they mean, and how do you find out the true name of the color of your egg?

I used to tear my hair out trying to figure this out when I first started raising chickens, until finally someone on the Chickens Of The Sea group chat told me where I could get this handy hud.

NNs Color Namer

NN's Color Namer

This HUD is a great value, and its something that I use on a daily basis. It only costs $199L, and it will help you determine the true color name of your egg. Click on the egg, and you’ll see a series of numbers that look like this: 0.24532, 0.21543, 0.13464

While wearing the HUD, click on the VEC button on the bottom. You’ll have 20 seconds to key in the vector numbers. You don’t have to type in the whole thing, only the first 3 digits. For example:

0.24, 0.21, 0.13

Type that in open chat exactly as you see it, including with the periods and commas. The Namer Hud will search the vectors, and give you the correct shade. In this case, Lisbon Brown. You will see that the color inside the display circle in the middle will match your egg. (If it doesn’t, recheck your values.) The shade and vectors are important to people who want to buy or trade your egg, so they know what color chicken they’ll be getting. When people sell their eggs on group chat, they’ll often advertise it as, “V11 Original Egg for sale, Lisbon Brown, <0.24, 0.21, 0.13>”. Now everyone with the color namer can enter those vectors into their hud, and see the color of the egg for sale.

The RGB value is good to know so if you are making a prim or a sign to put your egg inside for sale, you can go into the color section of edit and enter the value in the Red/Green/Blue fields, to match the exact color.

I have not personally used the Hex field yet, but I imagine it works the same for RGB, if you are using a web based color converter.

Now you know how the vector values work for your eggs. :) I highly recommend picking one of these HUDs up, if you plan on breeding and selling your chickens and eggs.

Well, after a couple weeks of waiting, Peep has finally reached maturity and just laid her very first egg! :)

Peeps First Egg

Peep's First Egg

For those of you not familiar with the saga of Peep, it all started a few weeks ago when I left her at Stuart Warf’s house as a joke. I sent him a notecard warning him not to return her or she’d die in my inventory, then I blogged and plurked about it, starting the whole ‘Will Peep Live?” campaign. A lot of people thought it was funny and it became a mini soap opera for a day or so.

Unfortunately, Stuart did not take my warning serious. He returned Peep and she was crushed in my inventory. The people who had been following the story on plurk and my blog were saddened.

I left her under the cherry tree in our yard.. but I wasn’t ready to give up, yet! I contacted Sion Zaius himself, asking if he would revive Peep in exhange for a favor, which he accepted. I will be interviewing him in the next issue of Prim Perfect Magazine. :) That issue will probably be released sometime in August, so stay tuned for that.

Everyone was very happy that Sion was able to bring Peep back, and a few people expressed interest in getting one of her eggs, should I ever start breeding her. Which brings me to this post.

I have a little booth set up at an Egg Co-Op, run by Rizzyd Ragu. I have a few V11 Original eggs in various shades of blue, that are the offspring of Nugget and Jewell- Peep’s sister. Those are set at 99L each. If anyone would like to buy one, they are set to original- so make sure you take your purchase after you pay for it! It will not show up in your inventory automatically.

As for Peep’s egg, she laid a beautiful, smokey dark blue one. The hue is called Spectra. I had no idea if people are still interested in Peep’s egg, or what I should set the price at. But since more than one person expressed interest, I figured the best way to give everyone a fair shot is to place it in a Bid Box. I have the auction set for 24 hours, starting right now. And the starting bid is only 10L. :) You can’t beat that! Just visit my booth here: Click To Teleport

The landing point might not put you right at my booth, so just follow the red beacon. Pay the bid box the amount you would like to bid. If someone outbids you, your full money will be refunded. Simple. :)

Good luck!

Peeps Very First Egg For Auction

Peep's Very First Egg For Auction

I’ve only been aware of the Sion Chickens for a few short weeks. But in that time, the popularity of these chickens has taken off at an incredible rate. The blogosphere is saturated with people posting about their chickens, Twitter and Plurk are buzzing with people asking questions about the care and raising of their chickens. I’ve seen in world chicken groups, flickr groups, and entire farm-themed sims dedicated to these chickens. Since I love blogging and taking photos, I figured- why not start a blog where we can compile all the Sion Chicken related information in one place. I’ve spent the last couple of weeks looking around at some of the chicken farms, and seeing a lot of really great builds and clever products like pens, coops, chicken toys, etc. I want to start reviewing some of these farms and blogging about this whole chicken phenomena. But as most of you probably know- either you love the chickens, or you hate them. So rather than putting this information on my personal blog or even my Home and Garden related blog, I thought it would be best to create a separate blog just for those that are interested.

So here we go! I look forward to visiting many of the farms and chicken ranches that I’ve seen on the grid, and blogging about them. But I thought it would only be fitting to start off with the very first place I became aware of, Lavish Chicken Shop. Now, I’ve already blogged this place several times on my personal blog and I do want to start blogging some places I have not mentioned yet, so I’ll keep this one brief.

I find Lavish Chicken Shop incredibly cute, and I love coming back here whenever I need to pick up new food or other supplies. I first found out about this from another blogger friend of mine, Alicia Chenaux. She had posted about a Midnight Mania board where you could win some baby chickens. I had not heard of this before, but I was curious so I signed up. When I got my eggs the next day, I had a little bit of trouble and a lot of questions relating to their hatching. Alora was wonderful, and was more than happy to answer all of my questions. She even sent me a replacement set of eggs when it appeared that there might have been a problem with mine. I appreciated how helpful and friendly she was, which is why I come back to Lavish often when I need chicken supplies.

In addition to a massive assortment of v10 and v11 Scion eggs, Alora also has designed a lot of cute items of her own, available for purchase. The Lavish Chicken Cottage is a small prefab built to be a safe shelter for your chickens. The cottage is surrounded by a wooden picket fence with flowers, and includes some eggs.

As I mentioned before, Alora sells a large selection of individual eggs. But she also put together some beautiful egg baskets. These baskets contain 7 colorful eggs. You can also keep the container as decoration, the particle butterflies are so pretty!

Her midnight mania board is still available, and it seems like she changes the color of eggs now and then. When I came here the first time, she had a red and blue egg set available. Now she has green and brown eggs up on the board, so you can mix and match your chickens to get more pretty colors. :) She also sells other items like chicken toys, pens and even some nice blankets that your chickens will be drawn to sleep on- and it includes some poses so you can lay down with your chickens! Very cute!
